Montmartre & Pigalle

Visiting Paris does not mean you will only be climbing the Eiffel Tower. There are a lot of other things that Paris offers. And among these nice views you can visit in Paris are the Montmartre and Pigalle.

Montmartre: More than Just Artists’ Hub

If you are arts enthusiasts, you will find Monmartre very interesting because this is the place where many famous and non-famous artists had their studios. There were Salvador Dali, Claude Monet, Modigliani, Vincent van Gogh, and Pablo Picasso to name a few.

You can have more exciting Montmartre visit if you go to these interesting places:

Sacre-Coeur Basilica

This place is open everyday from 6am until 11pm while its crypt can be visited everyday from 9am until 5:45pm.

Eglise St-Pierre-de-Montmartre

This is the only surviving trace of the old Benedictine Abbey of Montmartre. There is a small cemetery next to this place, but it can only be visited on All Saints’ Day.

Commune Libre du Montmartre

This is a bohemian community that attracted several artists then. Today, it still continues its ideals and camaraderie that tourists will surely enjoy.

Espace Dali

Devoted Salvador Dali fans should never miss this place where over 300 art works of Dali are showcased. It is open everyday from 10am until 6:30pm. The entrance fee here is 7 euros.

Musee de Montmartre

Parc de la Turlure

This is a very romantic place with its famous pergola is covered with vines. You can have a very lovely and interesting view from the place’s rooftop.

Jardin Sauvage

This is a garden that preserves Paris’ wildlife. You can visit this garden every Saturday of April to October only.

Cabaret du Lapin Agile

This was the favorite place of Montmartre artists and now a place of French classical music.

Visiting Pigalle, the Paris’ Red District

Wanting more from Paris? Then you might want to divert your travel from the historical Montmartre to the pleasurable place of Pigalle. This is called as the Red District of Paris and is just a few walks from Montmartre.

Pigalle is a place of peep shows, sex shops, cabarets, adult shows, strip clubs, and X-rated adventures. While the kids are asleep after your adventure in Montmartre, you might want to visit a place for you “only.”

You can find a lot of notorious hotspots of for-adults clubs in here like the famous Moulin Rouge. Some tourists say that the drink here is overpriced but that already covers getting a pretty French girl as your bonus.

Pigalle is also interesting to be visited during the day, but the district becomes more animated at night.
