Paris in Hollywood is a no-brainer. From the 60s to the 70s, 80s, 90s, and now, the 2000, the city has always had that appeal to both filmmakers and moviegoers. Below are just few of the blockbuster films featuring the modern Paris in modern times
Starring Leonardo de Caprio, this 2010 sci-fi action film has most scenes shot in Paris. In fact, the filmmakers specifically made negotiations with the city council to help them with the shoot and in return promote Paris. The café scene in the film was shot just around the corner of rue César Franck and rue Bouchut. The fashion museum, Musée Galliera was also used in the movie as backdrop for a scene with Michael Caine, Ellen Paige, and Leonardo di Caprio.
In 2010, Paris took the limelight in Hollywood again as it served as the main premise in the Angelina Jolie and Johny Depp-starrer, “The Tourist”. Among the Paris locations used in the film are Plaza de la Colette (where Angelina Jolie was reading a newspaper at the start of the film) and the Royal Palace.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Directed by Michael Bay and produced by no less than Steven Spielberg, this sequel to the 2007 film also had Paris as one of its premises. Among the Paris landmarks included in the film were Place de la Concorde, Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.
The Da Vinci Code
In 2007, the controversial novel of Dan Brown was brought to the big screen with Tom Hanks leading the cast as historian Robert Langdon. Having featured the works of Leonardo Da Vinci, the movie takes you to a tour to Paris’ world-famous Louvre Museum. Whether you have or have not been to the Louvre, the movie will give you a thrill with what the museum has to offer. Other Paris places included in the film are The Ritz Hotel (which is one of the city’s most exclusive hotels) and the Saint-Sulpice Church.
The Devil Wears Prada
In 2006, Paris has once again showed the world why it’s called the fashion capital of world in the Meryl Streep-starrer, The Devil Wears Prada. To say that Paris is home to the fabulous is just an understatement. Enjoy watching the beautiful streets of Paris as well as its museums and other landmarks featured in some scenes of the film.
