Paris, the City of Lights, definitely lives up to its name. But there is much more in the French capital than just bright lights or the Eiffel Tower. Paris is the dream destination of many travelers. And why not? It has all what it takes to be a great tourism hub: great French food and fine wine, lovely architecture, unparalleled nightlife, insane shopping scene, and stylish people. Not to mention the romance that fills the air.
With so many sights to see and activities to do, planning on an itinerary for your Paris trip is not an easy task. But here’s a rule of thumb when you visit this romantic capital: always include in your tour at least three of the most famous Paris activities for tourists. This includes climb atop the iconic Eiffel Tower, a visit to the Louvre (arguably the most popular and most impressive museums in the world), and a climb atop the Notre Dame Cathedral. But of course, you can always explore the city on your own to discover hidden gems.
If you have the luxury of time, include in your Paris itinerary climbing the steps to Monmartre’s Sacré Coeur, visiting the sassy Pigalle district, and strolling around the Place du Tertre. Also try to squeeze in a walking tour around the Latin Quarter and witness the creativity of the street performers just outside the Centre Pompidou.
When putting together recommended itineraries, it can be very difficult to limit the most important attractions. Paris is home to layers of culture that are reflected in just about every corner. Visitors can have all the time to explore Paris and still find new delights, but more often than not, they do not have the luxury of time (and budget). So make sure to plan well ahead of time, put together a realistic itinerary, and time your visit to have a fun-filled and unforgettable Paris vacation.
