Julie Delphy is a French-American actress, director, screenwriter, and singer-songwriter born on December 21, 1969 in Paris to parents Marie Pillet and Albert Delphy who are both actors. She had attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Delpy has been affected by health problems since childhood and had to wear callipers at age 8. She also experienced migraines and panic attacks.
She has been a naturalized citizen of the United States since 2001, although she also keeps her French citizenship. She has been dating the German film score composer Marc Streitenfeld since 2007, and they had a son named Leo, born on January 2009.
She made her stage debut at age five and appeared on the big screen for the first time before she was 10. She was first featured in Détective at the age of fourteen and since then she has starred in many American and European productions. She made her feature length directorial debut in 2002, with a film entitled “Looking for Jimmy” which she also wrote and produced. Delpy is also a musical artist. She published a self-titled album, Julie Delpy in 2003.
She has been nominated for three César Awards, two Online Film Critics Society Awards, and an Academy Award.
